Re: TRIVIA QUIZ
Accurately - 1609.344 ............. although swimmers consider 1600 the eqivalent of a mile swim....

Re: TRIVIA QUIZ
I am somewhat confused about this.... Years ago I saw a documentary about the inventor of cats eyes... It was so long ago that its all a bit vague now except for one scene...He was shown as poverty stricken...sitting on a wooden box in front of a tiny fire in an empty room....having burnt all his furniture to keep warm. I found this very distressing which is why it has stuck in my mind....
The Great Depression was in the 1930's....and Percy Shaw of Boothtown, Halifax, West Yorkshire invented the catseyes in 1933 and patented them in 1934 which makes some sense of this memory...
It doesnt seem to equate with the google and wikipedia entries though...they make it seem as if it was all plain sailing... If I have time I shall dig a bit deeper !!!! LOL

Hehehe... what do you think google is there for???? Nobody knows everything....the trick is knowing how to find out !!!!
Thanks for the input Cyril.... do you know any more about Percy Shaw???
What exactly was his bog house?? according to google and wikipedia it was a 'necessary' house, ie a toilet..There are other'bog houses' that take thbeir name from being built on or by a bog...
