Guild competition
As the WoW is such a washout we have decided that we will run competitions and activities within the guild...
We will create a roll of honour within the guild and a trophy for competition winners which could also be used as an avatar....
So..come on people.... put your thinking caps on !!!
Post your suggestions and ideas !!!!
This is your first guild activity and I am waiting with my notebook !!!

Re: Guild competition
It has to be a competition that any member can win,not just the rich and famous.
Re: Guild competition
I totally agree with you squirrel.... We could of course create something with different levels but I would prefer to have something where every member is in the same position.....
What I want now are suggestions for our competitions.... I do have something in mind but I dont want to say anything just now because I would prefer members to give their ideas....
It is YOUR forum, and YOUR guild not just mine... and I would like our competition to come from the guild membership not me..
Get your thinking caps on please !!!!!

Trust
No matter what the guild competition will be there are some members who'll always have a disadvantage (do you have 1, 2 or 3 gardens?) So there has to be a lot of trust because it's difficult to check if someone would be "cheating". Or maybe a different competition for each amount of garden one owns? Just thinking out loud here.

I appreciate your concerns... and agree there are various situations that could affect the outcome... that is why I am asking for your input and ideas.... whatever your level you will understand the variations that would concern you as to the fairness of the competition... therefore.....
Give us your ideas. !!!!
What seems fair to you????
How can we all enjoy a competition as equals???
Come on people...help me... give me your ideas...lets find something to involve everybody at the same level !!!!
I told you... I am waiting with my notebook at the ready !!!!!

Maybe you could make gold, silver and bronze avatars? And look at the levels the guildhouse members are?
lily lobbyist, walnut watchers etc? I'm just thinking out loud

Re: Guild competition
Thank you for suggestions Talli... We have loads of ideas already for trophies and will add yours to them....
What we need now are suggestions and ideas for competitions.... this will obviously be an ongoing project because we want to keep the competitions going as a regular guild feature...
We are your admin team....it is our function to maintain the smooth running of this forum and your guild.... It is not our function to think for you or to impose our ideas upon you...
I say it again...it is YOUR guild and YOUR forum.... tell us what you want !!!!

Re: Guild competition
This comp is going to revolve around Points and Level so can we work out a system maybe using harvest points for each level for player to achieve.Perhaps get 20,000 points up to Weed Vendor but up to 50,000 for up to Scarecrow and so on.
Players would register their scores on the forum like xyxyxy has 24,530 on 24 aug [and will need 44.530+ for target] and when he/she achieves the required score they can register it to Admin to check. All players can keep an eye on each other from town hall or "possibly" daily/weekly reports on forum.

Re: Guild competition

Re: Guild competition
Another way is a handicap
Mole hunters 0
Allotment holders -5000
Blueberry baron -10,000
etc. Example only; all trying to get to same score of say 500,000 points or whatever.

I got a idea for te guild competition !!
I got a idea, let everyone come up with a storyline for Molehillempire. A story about the world MHE, about gnomes. The 3 ones with the most interesting story get a surten amount of veg (number 1 the most veg, number 2 something less then number 1 and number 3 something less then number 2)
now everyone, not only persons who think of a guild competition, have to think up something creative in order to win.
Another idea, the one who thought of "the guild competition" which will be really "used" gets a surten amount of veg too.
Kaemlin.

Re: Guild competition
It is extremely difficult to create a competition avoiding three problems:
1. The many different player levels.
2. Language differences
3. The fact, that you can only trade with fair prices or you will go against the general game rules.
And:
For my opinion it should only be a real fun competition. It shouldn´t make anybody rich or poor. And it shouldn´t force people to plant products, they normally wouldn´t want to plant.
Here is a competition fulfilling all this.
To win this competition, you need to send FIVE products to me.
Only two people know which those products are. I know it, because I establish them - and Numptys will know by mail, just as a control.
These products are more or less low level products, so every player level can participate.
Now people send five products to me. Whoever wants to, sends some. Even more then once, even twice a day, doesn´t matter. He/she sends them with market/farm less 10% as a price, which is ok for the sender and for me (and I need material all the time anyway, so it´s welcome, isn´t much anyway).
You decide yourself, if you grow these products, buy them, whatever.
Who first sends the correct products (let´s imagine my pre-established products were carrot, salad, tomatoe, strawberry, garlic - but it could as well be 3 carrots, 2 tomatoes, who knows ...) gets a price: The winner gets for example a guild medal and is allowed to ask me to send him five products of his choice, whatever it is, 25% cheaper than market/farm, which I would be prepared to do.
------------------------
Just my 2 cents

Re: Guild competition
I like it Nightstar but the 5 products must be of quantity so that someone/everyone sends you 5 products 1 off and keeps sending of 1 of each until the right combination is reached.
Would all 5 products have to be sent at the same time??
Like the idea a lot.

Re: Guild competition
I have replied to Kaemlin on the guild table also....
I like the idea of a short story competition based on the world of molehill..
Dont panic folks - I see it as a very short story ... 1500 letter spaces... the same size as allowed for an IGM.... This is of course open for discussion..
The prize would be a trophy that would be shown by your name in the membership list and could be used as an avatar on this forum. We have already consulted PearlBay and Upjers will not allow us to give coins ,veg or decorations as prizes....nor will they allow us to sell to the winner at a heavily discounted price...
However... this will not stop us having fun, will it !!!!
Come on folks...more ideas please... I want to get this up and running..
Have a great day

Re: Guild competition
Who translates all those short stories, perfectly written in german, spanish, russian and croacian to English? If you oblige non-native Englosh speakers to write theit story in English, there is no fair chance for them.

Re: Guild competition
That´s exactly the thoughts I had when I´m reading the idea...
Even if I have English as school subject to get my A-levels (interpretation of urban poetry isn't fun!), I don´t feel confident enough to write a short story in english...

Re: Guild competition
My idea for a Guild Comp......
Using the garden designer tool we could design a garden and name it. Send it to one of the Admins to post all entries in the Forum. The members vote on which one they like best. The one with the most votes is declared the winner and receives a Guild Trophy. This could be a comp run every month or fortnightly.
Regardless of what level every member is at this would allow all to be able to enter and be fair - no one has any advantage.

That´s a great idea, I´m generally not interested in Garden designs, but this seems to be a competition which looks very fair...you have only to be creative, whatever your level is...

Re: Guild competition
I think this is a good idea but possibly without the use of the garden Design Tool.
I think that plants only should be used as some of us will not be able to afford tables, balls, fountains etc.

competition ideas...
Hi People.... What a great response !!! Several points to answer ...
Short story...Its not intended to be lengthy... no more than the length of an IGM
Language .... It could be written in your own language and then translated by a free programme such as Babelfish... I realise that this is not always grammatical and if anybody wants me to proof read before submitting I am happy to do so - as admin I would not be entering the competition.
Garden design... This could be a good competition...using the garden designertool means everybody has the same access...the design does NOT have to be created with 'real' plants in our molehill gardens...It is possible to upload your design to the forum... Xuit will provide instructions.. We could create variation by either allowing free choice of design or working to a theme...... This idea could be used again and again.
Thank you all for your input
Edwina

Using the garden design tool there is nothing to buy everything is provided. Thats why it would be fair on everyone regardless of level and cash status. All the members need is the design tool and some imagination.
